evacuated for irene

Irene is coming.
My little family was told to evacuate our apartment in lower Manhattan.
When the police in NYC tell you to do something, you do it.  No questions asked. We left.
I'm hoping our windows hold up. They're right across the street from a major construction project.
Fingers crossed.

We drove up to Connecticut to help my parents button up their beach house.
As you can see, the water is close and everyone is taking it seriously.
The concern here is not so much the wind, its the waves.  Storm Surge.  An extra 9 feet of water.
The last time a hurricane hit Connecticut, my parents beach house floated across the street.
We're hoping it stays put this time.

The local lumber yard was selling plywood with a full return policy - all your money back if you don't paint it.
That's called community.

This neighbor has a good sense of humor.
This guy is already having a bad day.
His boat sank and the storm isn't even here yet!

My hunter boots are coming in handy already! ;)
