My 10 (+1) Favorites from 2010

My 11 favorites from 2010.  I have not yet completed Project 365, as I started in February, but I'm still having fun!

The first snow pictures taken in 100% manual mode.  I like this picture of my little Army housing neighborhood.

An accurate description of my marriage. :)

My first shots in super low light and completely in manual.  Was not only proud of myself for getting shots of all the amazing food at Minibar, but also for practically licking my plate clean of each course and then asking what I just ate.  I'm not a picky eater at all, neither is D and the chefs there just loved serving us.  This picture of the "mojito" (which liquefied in my mouth) reminds me of how much fun it was!

I definitely wanted to challenge myself this year.  So, after seeing so many beautiful shots of the moon, I wanted to see if I could get one myself.  I thought about it a while and then I stood in my front yard for an hour trying to figure out how to do this.  When I finally did, it was still challenging, but the results made me feel like I truly accomplished teaching myself something.

Some days, I just can't think of anything to take a picture of.  It's rainy.  I'm tired.  I was looking around my house trying to think of something fun I could take a picture of and the Flintstones seemed like the perfect solution.  365 can be challenging (and exhausting) and this photo makes me laugh because it can also force you to be more creative than you thought you'd have to be.

Ah, Vacation.  I love this picture because of the boats and the bright happy colors in Cassis, FR.  Vacation is great, but travel makes me indescribably happy.  Ever since we started dating, Daniel and I travel well together.  That might sound strange, but when you put together two people who have traveled, sometimes their styles clash.  And yes, I believe people who travel enough have travel styles.  Together, we have a great time and we've never been disappointed in any of our vacations.  In fact, I don't think we've ever wanted to leave!

I love this adventurous boy on the rocks in Cinque Terra, Italy.
Moments later he dove into the surf below.

I absolutely loved taking this picture.  Daniel and I were sitting on the couch on a Friday night around 11:45 pm and I looked over and said, "hey, do you know how to drive to the Iwo Jima?" and Daniel said, "yeah, I think so, you want to go over and take a picture?"

And THIS is why I love him.  :)  Not even a question - lets drive to the Iwo Jima at midnight. :)  It was a challenge to get the exposure right with the capital and the Washington Monument in the background, but I was really happy with the results.  It is so quiet over at the Iwo Jima at night that it allowed me plenty of time to set up and practice.  I ended up going back again in August to give it another shot. August 4. I like the way that one turned out too.  I took this one for my cousin Steve who is a marine stationed out of San Diego and was just home from his first deployment to Afghanistan.

There is nothing about this picture that's particularly artistic.  In fact, I took it with my camera on my blackberry.  Our neighbors had two dogs that practically lived in their backyard.  As you can see by the metal fence, one of them tried to dig a hole to freedom under our fence.  Seamus loved running back and forth along the fence with them and then he'd stop and shove his little nose under the fence and frantically wag his tail.  He would stand in this position until he got tired...

Just a shot of a typical scene in Tribeca. I think I just love this building.

My Husband and my puppy on the beach near my parents house.  I don't mind the fact that I blew out the sky because I love the other colors so much.

Love the shot of you and your hubby's shoes, because I've been there too.

Although I started learning photography over a year ago, I just started a 365. I may have to peek through your for inspiration.

Just found your blog and it's absolutely lovely. My husband and I are moving to NYC come July, which makes me a bit apprehensive after small town life in Scotland this year. Your photos make it seem open, simple, less crowded. Thanks!

Hi! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Iwo Jima picture. My Dad served in the Marine Corps for over 30 years :)

Would you mind sharing what settings you eventually had to use to take that picture? Everything is so perfect about it! Thanks!
