A couple years ago, I went to Five Guys with some people from work.
Washingtonians, Virgnians and Marylanders (I really just wanted to use all those words in a sentence...) go on and on about Five Guys. Like the way Californians go on about in-and-out. Its serious. I was psyched. I was ready for it.
It was BAD. Terrible. Awful. Possibly, the WORST burger I had ever had.
Nobody understood...Had I gone to the wrong restaurant?
So, after a couple years of having a strong dislike of Five Guys, I was in DC this week and decided to give it a second chance. This year is about second chances. (Sorry, no third chances.)
I did the smart thing. I asked the girl at the counter what she liked.
Little Bacon Cheeseburger. Done.
It was sounding good already.
Toppings?...Mayo, Lettuce, Tomatoes, mushrooms, pickles.
The verdict: It was good. Real good. I was hungry. I ate so quick, I actually gave myself a tummy ache.
The fries, though, not good. Sorry Five Guys, you just can't win 'em all!
