After I found out I was pregnant, I started admiring baby photos on Pinterest - all the great pictures of naked bums, animal hats and swaddled babies. Then I started admiring maternity photos. I thought, "Do I really want to remember myself looking like I swallowed a watermelon?" (Or, in my case, the prize winning watermelon at the State Fair.... who knew!?).
The answer was "HELLS YEAH!" This belly got me seated at Balthazar, with no reservations, more than once!! BOOM! But seriously. I'll be honest, being pregnant made me feel a bit super-human. Like making a little human being was my not-so-secret superpower. If I thought I could have worn a cape for the photos and not embarrass my husband, I think I would have. Instead, I settled for a favorite sweater that gave a hint as to how I was feeling (and a dog shirt, I forgot about that) ;)
A BIG HUGE PRIZE WINNING WATERMELON SHOUT OUT TO our AWESOME photographer and sweet friend Megan Tsang of Megan Tsang Studio. We love to lure Meg to NYC from the Bay Area. We're going to keep doing it as long as she'll tolerate us!
I was 7 months when these pictures were taken. The bump was still in control at this point. I was afraid to wait too much longer in case I started feeling bad. Fortunately, that did not happen so I have lots of pictures from after this. Including one from the day I went into labor. I will share that some other time. (thank you Kelly!).
